A piece of embroidery is found, torn and forgotten, by Lydia Konsta, among her mother’s belongings. For the first time she hears the story of a Jewish young woman who in 1944 entrusted her dowry to Lydia’s grandmother’s aunt who was her trusted Christian friend, to keep it safe until she would return. She never came back. The dowry was given to the Christian young women of Lydia’s family, and the story was forgotten. The mixed media documentary ’The Dowry’ will record the search of a descendant of any surviving member of the family of the pretty young Jewish girl, to hand back the last remaining piece of the dowry…
